The Indianapolis Colts kick off their 2014-15 NFL campaign tonight, Thursday, Aug. 7, in a preseason contest against Rex Ryan and the New York Jets.

However, as is the case in preseason games, those fans looking to get a glimpse of the Colts' big-name stars, like Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne, are going to be disappointed. The big stars rarely play more than a couple series in the first preseason game, and Coach Chuck Pagano has implied that the first-team offense might even be benched after one series, if it's a good one.

Despite the lack of star power in tonight's game, though, there are still plenty of interesting stories to follow.

Here are four intriguing players to look for in tonight's game:

1.) Zurlon Tipton, RB

Besides having the coolest name on the team, Tipton might also turn out to be the steadiest back on the Colts' roster. Zurlon, a CMU grad, gained national recognition in college football after an incredible junior season, but injuries during his senior year kept him out of the minds of NFL scouts.

As a result, Tipton went undrafted, but the Colts quickly picked him up in free agency.

Tipton lacks the flash of some of the other newly drafted running backs, but is a big back capable of putting up steady numbers, and could be a great tool for short yardage and goal-line situations.

Tipton's size and strength make the back a great piece for the Colts' power running puzzle.

2.) Donte Moncrief, WR

Moncrief, the Colts' third-round pick, has a tremendous amount of athletic talent and his excellent jumping ability makes him a danger to the opposition with 50/50 passes.

But it's Moncrief's speedy acceleration that could be his biggest weapon, and the Colts seem to be banking on his quickness by making him the starting returner on kickoffs.

If Moncrief lives up to the hype, him and fellow punt return man, T.Y. Hilton, might turn out to be one of the more deadly returning combos in the league.

3.) Bjorn Werner/Daniel Adongo, Rush LB

Robert Mathis will get the starting nod in tonight's matchup against the Jets, but it's second and third string linebackers, Bjorn Werner and Daniel Adongo, that will see the most playing time. These two internationals boast a tremendous amount of athletic upside coming into their second year, and it will be interesting to see just how far the pair have come since last season.

For those looking to catch the game tonight, kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and television listings can be found here.
