DFW Airport Founders Plaza Observation Area is the hideaway for air enthusiasts. Open daily from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, this open area is the perfect picnic site or rest stop for families On the edge of DFW Airport, the Founders Plaza Observation Area is free and a fascinating break from the everyday. Here not only can visitors listen to the action at the ground control tower, but can also see flights take off and land.
Dedicated to the sweat and tears of the founders of DFW Airport in 1995, the design of the Founders Plaza Observation Area monument mimic the design of the airport itself, with four panels symbolizing the four terminals of the airport when it was first built. Commemorative bricks can also be purchased to be placed at the site by the public.
A few picnic tables dot the area as well as telescopes to observe the activities of airplanes as they come and go. Younger children will be thrilled and older children will want to learn more after a visit here. Bring lunch and make an afternoon of enjoying local industry and the crisp outdoor air.
