The one, the only, the amazing Kosmicki’s highly acclaimed Kentucky Breakfast Stout will deploy like a barrel-aged beery assault onto the United States beginning on Tuesday, April 1. Founders Brewing Company’s most popular and sought-after beer brings the noise wherever it turns up, prompting a mix of headaches and joy for proprietors and consumers from Texas to Maine.
Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) is an imperial stout brewed with coffee and chocolate aged in oak bourbon barrels for one year in caves deep below Grand Rapids. This decadent, boozy, incredibly nuanced beer weighs in at 11.2% ABV and contrary to the rumors – it is NOT simply a barrel-aged version of Founders Breakfast Stout.
The beer will first be available in bottles at the brewery taproom during KBS Week in Grand Rapids from March 18-22 via a pre-ticketed release on Eventbrite. Bottles will hit the greater Grand Rapids area beginning on March 25, with distribution across Founders’ 27 state footprint officially starting Tuesday, April 1.
The official price at Founders will be $19 per 4-pack, but expect to see stores and bars splitting these up into single bottles with low limits and prices reaching $10-12 per bottle in some locations. Keep your eyes peeled and chat up your local beer guy to find out where this barrel-aged gem will turn up.
