September is National Recovery Month and Foundation for Recovery is partnering up with Writers in Treatment to bring to Las Vegas the REEL Recovery Film Festival, September 7 and 8 inside the Philip J. Cohen Theater, located at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, on the campus of UNLV.

Foundation for Recovery is Nevada’s only recovery community organization for substance use disorders and actively promotes the positive impact of addiction recovery in the community, working to create opportunities for those in recovery. Peer-based services are available to affected individuals, their families, and their friends, including individuals with co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders.

The REEL Recovery Film Festival, September 7 & 8, will showcase both documentaries and motion pictures by filmmakers who make honest films about addiction, alcoholism, treatment and recovery.

Among the scheduled films include:

Bill W – A documentary about Bill Wilson, the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Still Alive – A documentary about legendary songwriter and 70's icon Paul Williams.
Bob and the Monster – A documentary, six years in the making about indie-rock hero Bob Forrest and his life-threatening struggles with addiction.
Flight – Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, an airline pilot who saves almost all his passengers on his malfunctioning airliner which eventually crashed, but an investigation into the accident reveals something troubling.
Leaving Las Vegas – Ben Sanderson (Nicolas Cage), an alcoholic Hollywood screenwriter who lost everything because of his drinking, arrives in Las Vegas to drink himself to death. There, he meets and forms an uneasy friendship and non-interference pact with prostitute Sera.
