An Amazon France listing let slip a potentially big unknown feature Friday for Forza Motorsport 5. The upcoming Xbox One racing sim could see a significant increase in the number of online racers thanks to dedicated servers.
A translation of the Forza Motorsport 5 listing reads, "A unique multiplayer experience: With 24 drivers for the first time on the same course online, do yourself a name among the gaming communities. The matchmaking system Smart Match offers a whole new multiplayer experience, fast and competitive, perfectly suited to your skills and style. Finally for the first time, Forza 5 benefit from dedicated servers."
An inquiry has been sent to Microsoft to get confirmation on this information.
By comparison, Forza Motorsport 4 supported 16 racers online while previous games in the series never did anymore than eight on the Xbox 360.
The listing also states that there will be 120 new cars available in the Xbox One racer. Whether this is the total number of cars or the number of new cars in addition to previous cars in the series is unknown at this point so it's best to wait for an official announcement from Turn 10 Studios. The developer recently announced the return of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the additions of the Spa-Francorchamps and Australia's Bathurst track as well as open-wheel racers for the first time in the series.
Forza Motorsport 5 is releasing alongside the Xbox One on Nov. 22, 2013.
