Top food trends are bent on increasing nutrient values Other trends that I want to dig up would be sustainable ecosysyems, vertical farming, ending global hunger ...
A simple example would be:
Cargill, a company that seeks to make healthy nutritionals: Terri Vanderpol, Senior Beverage Scientist at Cargill, is testing a food additive that may promote heart health, called Barliv, a derative of barley.
Califronia based Bolthouse Farms has sold it in a pear-Merlot juice. And is it still on the shelves? I didn't find that but what I did find is a keeper: FrutiFast Pomegranate Juice! Wow this stuff is like an alarm clock for your mouth - and I am still finding new ways to use it:
-
Supports Healthy Cardiovascular Function*
-
Helps Maintain Already Healthy Cholesterol Levels*
-
Contains Natural Phytoestrogen
-
100% Pure And Natural, Nothing Has Been Added
-
From The Fertile Valleys Of California, NOT An Import Or A Blend!
-
Each Tablespoon Of Pomegranate Juice Concentrate Equals The Juice From One Medium Pomegranate
-
The Juice from Over 64 Medium Sized Pomegranates Per Quart
-
Concentrates are bottled in PET 1 plastic, are BPA free and fully Recyclable
-
Certified Kosher NOTE: MUST BE REFRIGERATED UPON ARRIVAL
This drink is on myTop TEN list of Summer drinks for 2011:
Pomegranate Lemonade Punch (aka 'La Bamba')
1/3 cup of Pomegranate Juice in the bottom of a tall or wide glass
drop in a few ice cubes, add 3/4 cup of champaigne or sprite if you are going for a virgin drink
Top with 1/2 cup of fresh Ruby Red Grapefruit juice
Garnish with pink or sunset colored Rose petals and give it a slight swirl -
Looks like a pink Tequila Sunset, without the hangover!
Monerey Herald says,
"While agriculture is no longer among the top three industry sectors, it is still a significant component of the state's economy and the largest industry in Monterey County.California produces more than 400 commodities, employing 370,000 people and accounting for almost $35 billion in direct sales.
With California agriculture facing many challenges — aging workers, pest infestations and global competition" ... there is a lot of room here for improvement."
