Fort Woof dog park

You feed them, love them, give them shelter, and what do they do?  They deficate on the grass.
No, I am not talking about your children, hopefully.  I am speaking of your furry canine friend
that you consider to be one of your children.  When your puppy looks at you with those woeful
eyes as you are stuffing yourself with potato chips, consider this: put the dog and kids in
the car and head to Gateway Park in Ft. Worth.  Gateway Park is home to one of the best dog
parks in the country, Fort Woof (I didn't misspell).

Arriving at Ft. Woof you will normally find plenty of parking and a short walk to the front gate.
Once you present yourself to the front gate posted with rules, you have to make a decision.
"Do I have a little dog or a big dog?"  Essentially there are two dog parks in one.  If your
best friend is under 40 lbs. they go to the small dog side.  If your little pup is larger
then they need to go to the huge, face licking, knock you on your laurels, ride me like a horse side.

Even though this publicly owned facility is primarily designed in the interest of Rover and
his pals, it is not unfriendly for the family.  It is actually quite accomodating.  Each
side of the park has a covered seating area with picnic tables.  Also, you will find other
benches spread apart over the vastness of the the well manicured park.

You won't need to bring much.  The park supplies water, kiddie pools, water bowls, sanitary
baggies, and plenty of receptacles for said baggies.  Most afternoons you will find plenty
of tennis balls laying around for Fido to chase after (and maybe bring back).  However, you
are welcome to bring your own toys.

There are a few rules that most owners will understand to be in the best interest of the dogs
and their owners.  You can find all the rules and more at the Fort Woof website.  The Fort
Worth Dog Park Association is holding the annual Barktoberfest on October 3rd.  It should be
fun memories for the whole family; that means the whole family.
