Fort Greene pastor bids farewell to congregation

Melwyn Asquith Bob Mounter, the senior pastor of the Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church located in Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, will preside over his final worship service on Mar. 9.

A native of Guyana, Pastor Mounter graduated from Oakwood University formerly Oakwood College and Andrews University. He was the first Assistant Pastor in the history of the College and has also pastored Mt. Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church in Huntsville, AL and Glenville Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cleveland, OH. He currently serves as an Area Leader for the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for the northwest territory since 2008 and was the chaplain of the Northeastern Ministerial Association for two years.

His pastoral ministry spans nearly three decades, following his ordination in 1987, and across several nations including Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and the Caribbean islands. He also conducts seminars for grief and recovery; marriage and the family; stewardship; church growth; anger management; and drug awareness.

After seven years, Pastor Mounter is the 13th and longest serving pastor in the Church's history. He shares his ministry with his wife of 42 years, Carolyn; is a father of three; and grandfather of four.

The Divine Worship service will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 88 Hanson Pl. Brooklyn, NY. The service will also be streamed live at noon.

Pastor Mounter will installed at the Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church in Freeport, NY on Apr. 13.
