Fort Drum Soldier dies of noncombat injuries

Late this afternoon, the Department of Defense announced the death of a Fort Drum Soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Spc. Terry J. Hurne, 34, of Merced, Calif., died June 9, 2014, in Logar province, Afghanistan, from a non-combat related incident. The news release did not indicate if the incident was under investigation, or if there were other Soldiers involved.

Spc. Hurne was assigned to the 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Funeral services have not been announced by Spc. Hurne’s family.
