Fort Boonesborough State Park, near Richmond, will offer visitors a chance to celebrate the Christmas season as well as explore winter traditions with two events. Winter Trade Days will take place on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. Eighteenth Century Christmas will be held at December 7 through 8.
For Winter Trade Days, merchants and traders will be on hand dress in eighteenth-century period clothing to set up shops in the cabins and blockhouses at the fort. All items for sale are typical of items available in the eighteenth century. The fort will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 both days for buyers to shop for unique holiday gifts. There is no admission charge for this event.
During the Eighteenth Century Christmas event, visitors can see and hear the differences between modern celebrations and those held during the early settlement of Kentucky. The fort will be lighted by candlelight, with decorations in keeping with the traditions of the time. There will also be living history interpretations of the traditions of those early settlers. Admission to the fort for this event is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6; refreshments will be served.

The park is home to a reconstructed, working fort complete with cabins, blockhouses, and furnishings. Resident artisans perform craft demonstrations and give visitors a true sense of what life was like for pioneers in Kentucky.
Other facilities at the park include a museum, a gift shop with an outstanding selection of Kentucky crafts, and hiking trails. In warmer months, visitors can enjoy the swimming pool with water slide, rain tree and mist fountain, and miniature golf.
