A Forsyth County deputy shot and killed a man who allegedly confronted the officer during a domestic-related call early Friday morning.

So far, officials have not released the man’s identity nor the identity of the deputy involved in the shooting. But the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to determine exactly what happened, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Still, officials have release some details on what happened.

At 12:12 a.m. someone at a home in the 7900 block of Nicholson Road called 911 to report a domestic-related incident with a gun involved, the sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Doug Rainwater said.

About three minutes later, three deputies arrived and entered the home, Deputy Rainwater said.

“When deputies arrived and went inside the house, one of the deputies was threatened (by) a man with a gun and the deputy shot and killed the man,” Deputy Rainwater said.

He declined to comment on whether any words were exchanged between the man, who was reported to be 52 years old and the deputy, before the shooting.

The three deputies have been placed on routine administrative leave, Deputy Rainwater said.
