Forest Whitaker falsely accused of shoplifting and frisked in public in NYC

Forest Whitaker was humiliated by the employees of a NYC deli after they stopped him and frisked him thinking that he was a shoplifter. According to TMZ on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, Whitaker was frisked in full view of the public.

This millionaire award-winning actor didn’t call the authorities at the request of the employee, who was worried he’d lose his job at Milano Market. This upper East Side market employee realized it was a mistake once the search of Whitaker turned up nothing.

Whitaker tells TMZ that this incident was extremely upsetting especially since he did nothing more than walk into the establishment. His gripe is with the way store employees are treating patrons of the deli. “Frisking individuals without proof/evidence is a violation of rights,” Whitaker said.

The popular star left the Milano Market upset and baffled. They treated him like a common criminal, but he’d given them no reason to do so. TMZ tried to get a comment from Milano’s, but no one wanted to talk with them.
