It didn't take long for Forrest to name a new head football coach after former head man Brian Coleman announced last week he was going to Summit.

They realized they had a head coach in waiting on staff.

Matt Kriesky, 31, the Rocket Defensive Coordinator last season has been promoted to head coach for Forrest.

"I would like to thank the community and the Forrest administration for supporting me on this decision," Kriesky said. "The administration has been great since I have been here at Forrest and this was an opportunity that I thought I couldn't pass up."

Kriesky replaces Coleman who led the
Rockets to an 8-4 record in 2013.

The Rockets earned a berth in the Class 2A playoffs where they were defeated by lrunner up Adamsville in the second round.

"Coach Kriesky is a quality young man who will work hard in leading the Forrest football program and He has the respect of community, faculty and staff and most importantly the students," Forrest Principal Danny Morgan said. "He is organized and focused and the only problem we had with Matt was convincing him he was ready to move up."

This will be Kriesky's first head coaching job after assistant coaching stints at Blackman (2006), Oakland (2007-12) and Forrest (2013).

Kriesky's whose twin brother Will coaches at Riverdale talked about the influence that Oakland head coach Thomas McDaniel had on his coaching career.

"Coach McDaniel has played a major role in my coaching career," Kriesky said. I learned a lot from him that has prepared me for this job and what it takes to be successful."

"I also want to thank Coach Coleman who brought me to Forrest to run his defense last season."

Currently there are open jobs at Bolivar, Munford, Fairley, Clarksville Northwest, Ezell Harding, Red Bank, Briarcrest, Bearden, Carter, Perry County, Powell, Monterey, Clarksville, Halls, Raleigh Egypt, Unicoi County, Nashville Overton, Marion County, Davidson Academy, Kirby, Waverly, Chattanooga Central, Jackson Christian, Knoxville Central and Richland as schools currently looking for a head coach.
