Forney residents will be celebrating Halloween on Saturday, October 26 from 5 to 7 pm at Forney Community Park. The park is located on FM 548 between FM 741 and FM 1641. The 4th annual “Trail of Treats” celebration has grown each year, with 10,000 people attending last year.
The City of Forney Parks and Recreation puts the event together. Local children of all ages come dressed up in a variety of costumes, and walk the trail to collect their treats from the candy booths. 40 local businesses have signed up to host candy stations and games along the trail. Many of the stations are decorated in the Halloween spirit and they compete in a decorating contest for best station.
Last year, The Hole Thing Donuts won a prize for their great decorations and Forney Wellness was fully in the spirit of Halloween with staff members in costume. The Emily's Monkeys candy station will be having a sock monkey toss game on Saturday. They are giving away sock monkey keychains to the first 150 kids to show up in a monkey costume and to those who win the toss game. After the keychains are gone there will be plenty of other goodies handed out. All candy stations are told to expect nearly 4000 children to come through the Trail of Treats.
There will be a live DJ, giveaways, and a costume contest to go along with the candy stations. The event is free and always entertaining, so bring the little ones out for a safe and fun way to go trick or treating.
