Public Relations Director Kristal Howard told the Forney News Examiner that the Forney store is the sixth Marketplace in North Texas, but the first to offer an apparel and accessories department. With name brands like Levi, Dickies, and Skechers, shoppers will have a variety of women's, mens, and children's apparel to choose from. There is also Baby World, a large area with “essentials for infants and toddlers.” Whether it's baby food, clothes, diapers, high chairs, or cribs, you'll find it in the Baby World section.

Kroger Marketplace has a huge florist section, a Bed and Bath area, Kitchen Place area, and a section for office and computer supplies, as well as toys. There is also a Pharmacy with two drive thru lanes, which aims to get prescription orders filled quickly. Howard said the pharmacy will offer $4 generic brands and is able to fill pet prescriptions as well. There is also a large Fred Meyer Jewelers store near the pharmacy.

Even more impressive than all the non-food merchandise available, are the actual food items. There is a huge produce section that gets many of its products from local Texas farmers, including over 150 organic fruits and vegetables. There is an entire area of natural foods and gluten free products and you can even make your own peanut butter at the store. If peanut butter is not your thing, make your way to the coffee near by and pick up the Forney Blend, made especially for the Forney store.

If having a choice of cheeses appeals to you, prepare yourself, because the cheese section has 130 types to choose from. They will offer free samples and all you need to do to taste a new cheese before buying it is to ask the cheese expert behind the counter. She will also be able to help you pair your cheese with one of the over 1800 wines the store has, or with one of the 500 beer options, including craft beers and local beers. The cheese area also has an olive and antipasti bar. Just across from there is a sushi bar which will feature expert sushi makers.

The Deli and Bakery offer a variety of goods, including chicken combo meals, sandwiches, artisan breads, salads, cupcakes, and birthday cakes. Further down you will find the Meat and Seafood area which provides cut to order meats. There is also a grilling station and the seafood department will steam your seafood, including lobster for you while you continue shopping. It is a free service.

One thing that was clear from speaking with Howard as well as employees and managers at the store, if there is something you want that they don't carry, ask them to get it. They have about a 70 percent success rate in getting whatever it is the customer would like them to stock. Howard says the store will provide top quality customer service and will strive to get customers through the 20 checkout lines in a timely manner.

Whether you are there to do your weekly shopping, or simply want to stop in at the Starbucks and enjoy a coffee and the free wi-fi, the Kroger Marketplace intends to meet your needs.
