The Forney Police Department reported that their officers arrested a Dallas Police Officer for driving while intoxicated.
Dallas Officer Kelly Schumpert II was arrested in Forney on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 8, 2012. He is a two and a half year veteran of DPD and is assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. He is on Administrative Leave while DPD’s Internal Affairs investigates the circumstances of her arrest.
If convicted of driving while intoxicated, Officer Schumpert could face a $2,000 fine, 3 days to 6 months in jail, and the loss of her driver’s license. He may also lose her job as a Dallas Police Officer, as has been the case with other DPD officer’s arrested for DWI. DPD Police Chief David Brown has made it clear that officer’s convicted of committing a crime will not be welcome at DPD. However, Officer Schumpert has not been convicted of any crime at this point.
