Schumacher, still conscious but dazed, was airlifted to a trauma Center in Moutiers, but then was transported to the University Hospital Center in Grenoble where he was found to be in a coma. Upon his arrival, Schumacher required immediate brain surgery.

Conflicting reports about the Formula One champion’s present condition suggest that the injury was not serious, but newer information suggests severe sustains head trauma from skiing on unmarked slopes in France.

Schumacher is 44 and is arguably one of the best drivers in the world and had retired from Formula One last year. His manager Sabine Kehm had this to say:

“We ask for understanding that we cannot give running updates on his condition. He wore a helmet and was not alone.”
