In their submission, entrants should include any special memories, compelling stories and personal anecdotes about their F1 fandom that they believe will standout to judges. There is no cost to enter the contest, and only U.S. residents are eligible to enter. The deadline to enter is Sunday, Nov. 10, at 11:59 p.m. CT. A winner will be announced on Monday, Nov. 11.
Fans in attendance at the event will not only be able to see some of the world's best racecar drivers in action, but will also be able to enjoy world class entertainment. One of the premiere events surrounding the race weekend is the Austin Fan Fest fueled by Shell, an interactive, four-day festival presented free to the public Nov. 14-17.
The lively street festival, now in its second year, will feature an expanded footprint encompassing most of downtown Austin’s renowned Warehouse and 2nd Street entertainment districts. Joining the line-up this year is the KXAN Kids Zone at Republic Park, which will offer tons of fun, games and great eats, including racing-themed activities. Austin Fan Fest fueled by Shell will showcase 12 activity zones over 12 square blocks bounded by San Antonio Street (west), 5th Street (north), Congress Ave. (east) and 2nd Street (south).
While at the track, fans will be able to enjoy the vocal stylings of 17-year-old Texas native and reigning champion of NBC’s “The Voice,” Danielle Bradbery, who will participate in the opening ceremonies for the 2013 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX by singing “The Star Spangled Banner” on Sunday, Nov. 17.
During the Top 5 round of “The Voice,” Bradbery sang renditions of the songs "Please Remember Me" and "Who I Am," which both landed on the iTunes Top 10 chart. At the finals, Bradbery sang the song "Born to Fly" after which she was announced as the winner of the show’s fourth season. She landed the most singles to reach the Top 10 on iTunes during the season. Overall, Bradbery had more iTunes downloads than any other contestant in the show's history, and she is the youngest contestant to ever to win “The Voice.”
In addition to the amazing music performances at the fan festival and on track, visitors to the speedway will also be able to see a performance by America’s Sweethearts, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders during the opening ceremonies, performing their world famous dance to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” The opening ceremonies will also include a performance by the University of Texas Longhorn Band along the Circuit’s main straight and the Formula 1™ drivers’ parade before the race on Sunday, Nov. 17.
The squad will also be participating in the annual Formula 1 drivers’ parade alongside this year’s World Championship drivers in classic American automobiles. The parade will include American classics such as a 1970 Shelby GT 500 Convertible, a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1965 Pontiac GTO. Fans will get the chance to meet and take photos with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders throughout race day.
