Lime Rock Park in Lakeview, Connecticut has just announced that the vintage Formula One organization, Historic Grand Prix, will participate in this year's Lime Rock Historic Festival 30. The festival takes place over Labor Day weekend, August 31 through September 3rd.
Historic Grand Prix (HGP) highlights the 3-litre era of F1, cars from 1966 to 1983. Lime Rock says the organization will race on both Saturday, September 1st and Monday, September 3rd.
With both HGP and British racing icon, Sir Stirling Moss, scheduled to be on site for the weekend, excitement is building for the event. HGP organizer, James King, commented about his group taking to the track knowing the legendary driver is on hand. "That should give our drivers an extra-special incentive to put on their best show!"
Bud Moeller, an HGP owner and driver of an ex-Gilles Villeneuve 1979 Ferrari 312 T5, said, “Flying around Lime Rock in an F1 car is like being at a go-kart track on steroids.”
HGP has staged races throughout North America since 2000 including supporting races at the U.S. and Canadian Grands Prix and premiere historic race meetings.
