Formula One: IMRRC in Watkins Glen displays Emerson Fittipaldi 1975 McLaren M23

Fittingly, Watkins Glen’s International Motor Racing Research Center often features a car on display. This week, a new car has come to visit.  Lying full-length among the books, archives, and racing artifacts -- and as imposing as a sleeping dragon ready to fire up and roar at any moment -- a powerful Formula One racecar now commands visitors’ attentions as soon as they walk through the center’s doors.

According to the IMRRC, the car currently on display is one of the McLaren M23s driven by Emerson Fittipaldi and others. The car won the Argentine Grand Prix in 1975 and then later in the year the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It raced in 25 Grands Prix in total and on the vintage circuit in 2006.

The McLaren on display features a Cosworth V-8 engine and wears its high air box from early in the 1976 season.

For more information about the car or the display, contact the IMRRC. The historic Formula One McLaren is expected to be on site and available for viewing for several weeks.
