British driver Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes set the fastest time in free practice 2 for the 2014 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix on Friday, April 18, in Shanghai. According to Formula 1, Hamilton set a time of 1m 38.315s which was 0.141s faster than the next best competitor, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who set a time of 1m 38.456s.
The remaining top five set practice times as follows in FP2: third -- Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes car with 1m 38.726s; Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull came in fourth at 1m 38.811s. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull set the fifth fastest time with 1m 39.015s.
After FP2, Hamilton reported, "Something's wrong with this car." This was even after he had overcome suspension issues from earlier in FP1 that allowed him to come in fastest in the afternoon.

Going into the fourth contest of the 2014 season, the points leaders in drivers are: German Nico Rosberg of Mercedes with 61 points; Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes with 50 points; and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India with 28. The reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, currently sits at sixth place in this year's championship run with 23 points.
Constructors leaders so far in the season are: Mercedes way out in front with 111 points; Force India has 44 points; and in third place at this point in the season sits McLaren with 43 points, according to Formula 1.
