It's the best news since the last Yankees' win, bar nun.

Former Yankees player Tino Martinez will be the keynote speaker at Fordham University's Commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 17; he will then receive an honorary doctorate alongside United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Judge Denny Chin, and Sister Mary Alice Hannan, OP. Sister Mary Alice was the executive director of Part of the Solution in the Bronx from 1996 to 2011 when she realized that, in order to truly make people feel nourished, she would need to offer them more than a meal. She helped develop POTS into a safe, warm community that is open seven days a week to offer freshly prepared meals, foodstuffs, showers and clothing, as well as legal services to anyone who is in need.

In addition to developing one of the largest emergency food programs in New York City, Sister Mary Alice also founded Desda's Grate, a shelter for homeless women and their children in New Rochelle, New York. She now lives in New Rochelle where she, along with her fellow Dominican Sisters of Hope, preaches the gospel, promotes social justice for all of God's creation, and, in her spare time, she hangs out on Fordham's Keating steps with Yankees All-Stars and Supreme Court Judges.
