The former Destiny's Child singer, who talked with reporters at the opening of New York Fashion Week on Sunday, said she “made new friends” while working on the TV talent show, and added, “It was incredible, but you’ve got to think about the fact that there’s ‘American Idol,’ ‘The Voice,’ all these new shows that are coming up. But I have to compliment Simon because he started it all with ‘American Idol.’”

Simon Cowell, who will return to the England to judge the UK version of the show, posted a message to his fans on Twitter: “I have had a blast,” he wrote. “Really the best time of my life. Thank you for the support and the fun we have had together. It's never forgotten.”

Cowell also thanked fans in both countries for supporting his shows.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the end of the reality show is good riddance for Demi Lovato fans. The pop singer, who sat at the U.S. “X Factor” judges table during its final two seasons, had already announced her departure from the series so she could work on her music career. Lovato’s fans posted Twitter messages in support for the show’s cancellation.
