Former WWE & TNA star Lance Hoyt invades NWA Houston event in Cypress on Jan. 13

In case you need the reminder, 2012 is officially here. And with that comes a brand new year of live pro wrestling in Cypress with NWA Houston. They're back in action next Friday night, January 13, over at the Cypress VFW with "Next Level," the first event of the new year.

Headlining this huge card will be former WWE and TNA star Lance Hoyt (known in WWE as Vance Archer), as he has revived the NWA Texas Championship and will defend the gold this Friday night against the always dangerous "Showtime" Scot Summers. These two have been trading verbal shots back and forth over the last few weeks and you can bet that this will be nothing short of a brutal but classic encounter, as the NWA Texas Champion meets the uncrowned "Best in Texas."

The NWA Lone Star Championship is on the line, as newly crowned champion Ken Carson puts the title on the line against former champion Jasper Davis. At "Christmas Carnage" on December 9, Carson won a battle royal and cashed in a golden opportunity for an immediate title shot. During the main event between Jasper Davis and NWA Tennessee Champion Arrick Andrews, Carson rushed to the ring and shocked the fans when he pinned Davis and was announced as the new NWA Lone Star Champion. Jasper has had a month to put a gameplan together, so Carson can fully expect a long night ahead if he intends on retaining the title.

The team of Breaking Point (DJ King and Silky Baines) put the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Titles on the line against former champions The Crusaders (Pop'n & Lock). Since forming their alliance a few months ago, King and Baines have left an impressive wake of bodies in a path of vicious destruction. Can The Crusaders add another reign as champions to their resume, or will Breaking Point put another notch on the wall?

The roll call of championshp matches continue at "Next Level." as the ladies get involved in the action. Earlier it was noted that Lance Hoyt had revived the NWA Texas Championship, and now the NWA World Women's Tag Team Titles are headed into play. Next Friday night, fans will see the opening round of a tournament to crown the new champions. Recent rivals-turned friends Jenn Alise and Barbi Hayden will face the team of Angel Blue and Pink. The winners of this match will move on to the next round and continue their quest to become champions.

Speaking of NWA World Champions, the "Modern Day Hero" Kevin Douglas is in action as he will face Rudy Russo in a big grudge match. Douglas, who has been NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion since October 7, has been harassed by Russo lately. Russo even went as far as to say back in December that the recent injury to Douglas was fake. NWA Lone Star CEO Tony Brooklyn informed Russo that he would get his shot at Douglas, but it would NOT be for the gold.

In other action, you will see Psycho Circus member "One Man" Mike Dell square off against ultra-popular Bolt Brady, and Chaz Taylor teams up with Hambone to face the team of The Grappler and "The Scottish Nightmare" Wallace Gordon.

All that action happens next Friday night at the Cypress VFW, located at 21902 Highway 290 (Northwest Freeway) between Huffmeister and Telge. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Belltime is set for 7:30, so make sure you get there early to get a good seat for the action.

In 2011, NWA Houston had a wildly succesful year in terms of attendance, as nearly every event was standing room only. If that's any indication for what 2012 holds, you defintely do not want to miss the lineup of events that NWA Houston has in store for fans.
