Each NWA Houston event held in Cypress almost can't get here quick enough, and this coming Friday night will put an end to the wait. And adding to the excitement at "Valentine's Vengeance" will be a familiar face from WWE's past.
Rodney Mack, who had a successful run on WWE's syndicated "SmackDown" show under the leadership of "SmackDown!" General Manager Theodore Long, will be headed to Cypress to challenge the new NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion "Mr. Showtime" Scot Summers for the Lone Star state's most prestigious prize.
Summers, who shockingly dethroned the now-former champion Lance Hoyt in January, will be more than prepared for Mack, who can often be as vicious as Summers himself. These two will clash in the main event, and it is sure to be one of the hardest-hitting matches that NWA Houston fans have seen in quite some time.
Accompanying Rodney Mack to the event will be former 2-time WWE Women's Champion Jazz. She will be in action as well, as she faces current NWA Lone Star Women's Champion Jen-Alise. After being involved in a tag team title tournament a month ago, Jen now focuses her attention on undoubtedly her toughest challenge to date.
The roll call of champions continue at "Valentine's Vengeance," as the NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Champion Rudy Russo brings his championship ego to the ring to face the always tough Alex Reigns. Russo has somehow found a way to turn back every recent challenge as of late, but Reigns has proven to be a brutal competitor. This should be a great match for the fans to witness.
A recent Psycho Circus feud gets ignited again this coming Friday night, as Circus member "One Man" Mike Dell faces the now-former NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Champion Ken Carson. After being upended by Jasper Davis last month for the gold, Carson has been walking around claiming he is the "real NWA Lone Star Champion," even walking around with what is legitimately Jasper's championship. Carson has had issues with Dell and the entire Psycho Circus over the last few months, stemming from incidents involving the attack of Jen-Alise and his often-questioned loyalty to Barbi Hayden. Dell is out to eliminate Carson from the Psycho Circus radar, while Carson looks to reassert himself in the championship picture.
In non-title action, current NWA Lone Star Tag Team Champions "Breaking Point" (the team of "Benchmark" Silky Baines and "The Texas Torture Machine" DJ King) will be in tag team action against the team of "Made In America" Chaz Taylor and Hambone. The champs have left a trail of bodies since claiming the titles a few months ago, but you can expect the fans to be solidly behind Chaz and Hambone in this contest.
In other action, Bolt Brady will step in the ring against relative newcomer Dave Duperon, while "The Scottish Nightmare" Wallace Gordon looks to add another notch to his kilt courtesy of Big Ricky.
And finally, you will also see "The Hebrew Phenom" David Stahr issue his inaugural "Jew Versus You" challenge, where he will apparently step into the ring against a member of the NWA Houston Security Team. Stahr interrupted the show in January, and had some less-than-positive words for members of the Security team. He then finished by saying he would "properly" welcome one of them into the wrestling business this Friday.
Earlier in the article, the names of Barbi Hayden and "The Name That Entertains" Jasper Davis were mentioned. Based on an incident that involved the two of them in January, there is no word as to whether either of the two will be able to appear at the event. For information about that situation, you can click HERE to read the results from the Janaury event and catch up on what happened.
All of that action goes down on February 10 at the Cypress VFW, located at 21902 Highway 290 (between Huffmeister and Telge Rd.). Tickets for the event start at $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.
