Former Undertaker manager Paul Bearer dead at 58.

TMZ.com reported yesterday that William Moody, better known to wrestling fans as Paul Bearer, has passed away. As of this writing, no cause of death has been released.

Moody, 58, was best known as The Undertaker’s manager through much of Taker’s WWE tenure. Moody’s character, Paul Bearer, served as part-time mouthpiece and holder of The Undertaker’s urn, the relic which, according to The Undertaker’s gimmick, granted the Phenom his extraordinary powers.

WWE.com has released a brief official statement, noting that Paul Bearer had been a “memorable part of WWE.”

This news comes just one day after The Undertaker made his return to WWE RAW to make it clear that he will put his famed Wrestlemania undefeated streak on the line at Wrestlemania 29 on April 7th. Whether Moody’s death will be acknowledge on WWE programming in the future is uncertain, but such a character as memorable as Paul Bearer deserves at least a brief mention on some piece of upcoming programming.
