Star attorney and Soccer Mom Cherie Blair will be the keynote speaker when the California State Bar starts its annual meeting in Long Beach next Thursday, September 15. The wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has had a front row seat in the planning of the 2012 London Olympics and accompanied Mr. Blair on his recent planning and co-ordination visit to the Rio 2016 Olympics organization. A successful advocate for sports diplomacy, Ms. Balir recently told Splash News how soccer and swimming at social events helped the Blairs build bridges with Britain’s Royal Family.
Ms. Blair’s well timed visit will focus attention on Los Angeles’ own role in the International Olympic Movement as host of the 2012 International Olympic Congress on Women in Sport. This special event will take place February 16 to February 18 next year.
The 2012 International Olympic Congress on Women in Sport will present the first opportunity for International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge to visit Los Angeles as IOC leader. Rogge radiates enthusiasm when discussing the visit, saying "L.A. has a long sports tradition. The city is a true sports hub and, I am sure, will be an inspirational setting for all the conference participants.”
The 2012 International Olympic Congress on Women in Sport will support improvements in many of the areas most important to long-term athletic success: athlete health initiatives, communication between athletes, athlete support and assistance post-competition, and athlete representation on sport governing bodies.
