Amanda Bynes was supposed to go to court yesterday, but she didn’t show up. According to an April 2 Perez Hilton report, Bynes sent her lawyer to take care of her legal issues without her.
Amanda was scheduled to attend court to discuss two charges of driving on a suspended license. Richard Hutton, attorney for Bynes, asked Judge Margaret Oldendorf for a continuance on behalf of his former teen star client.
While Judge Oldendorf was very clear that she won’t be offering this chance again, legal experts are shocked that Bynes received a break. New York lawyer Jennifer Jackson said, “In twenty years of courtroom experience it has been very rare that I’ve seen a judge be so lenient with someone who doesn’t even bother to show up for their court date."
Perhaps the judge knew that today is Amanda’s 27th birthday? The former star of “The Amanda Show,” “What I Like About You,” and a half dozen teen romantic comedies had a rough 26th year. In addition to the charges of driving without a license, Bynes was arrested, charged with a DUI and evicted. Amanda’s behavior, appearance and Twitter activity has many referring to her as “the next Lindsay Lohan.”
Amanda Bynes has a new pretrial date set for May 2, so hopefully she won’t miss this one.
