UTSA were able to get some good recruitment news on Sunday when former Texas Tech commit Aneas Henricks made a commitment to the Roadrunners.
Henricks was made an offer by Texas Tech but found himself on the wrong end of a coaching change which pushed him out as the Red Raiders withdrew their offer.
Henricks will not be travelling far as he completes his High School days in Bastrop where he has been playing for the Bastrop Bears as a cornerback.
The 6’0 17lbs cornerback made his official visit to UTSA on Friday and committed to the Roadrunners on Monday with a verbal commitment.
Henricks comes highly rated, a three star recruit on rivals.com that seemed to fall off the radar after Texas Tech withdrew their offer, allowing UTSA to swoop in.
The rejection from Texas Tech has proved a significant motivation for Henricks as he will be determined to show them that they have made a mistake.
“Everything on the campus was beautiful,” Henricks said. “I liked everything they showed me, and I can see myself staying there the next four years.”
Henricks is a significant boost to UTSA and joins as their 19th commit for 2013 which will be another big step up for the school as they join Conference USA.
