Former Sooner Cade Davis signs pro contract with MZT Scopje

Former OU basketball star Cade Davis of Elk City, Oklahoma, recently signed a two-year contract to play for Macedonia MZT Scopje of the European Basketball League. Exact terms of the agreement were not disclosed.  Davis was the leading scorer and also tied for team high in rebounding for OU last season.

Davis actually signed the contract on his birthday and will play for MZT Skopje in the capital city of Skopje. The MZT Skopje team is headquartered in southeast Europe, and Macedonia is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia.

Not making it to the NBA yet was not a big disappointment for Davis, as he acknowledged just making it to the professional level was one of the goals that he had set for himself a long time ago. His plan is to use this experience playing in the tough European league in hopes of getting ready for the NBA in a few years.

"To play professionally is pretty much a dream come true," said Davis. "I remember in first, second and third grade when we had to write letters to ourselves about what we wanted to do when we grew up. Mine were always about playing basketball, and now that's what I get to do. I guess it's good to write down your goals."

MZT Skopje is coached by Todorov Aleksandar.  The only other America currently on this team's roster is former Tennessee Tech star Darnell Lindsay.  In order to see Davis play, MZT Skopje's season usually begins around October and lasts through May of the following year.

Davis follows a long line of successful OU basketball players that have gone on to compete at the next level, and based on his track record, he will bring aprolific outside shooting touch and a great deal of hustle, and passion for the game to MZT Skopje.

I'm just saying.
