Former Secretary Madeleine Albright to Speak at Dreyfoos School of the Arts (Video)

In a press release issued by PBCSD’s Public Affairs Office on Feb. 21, 2013, Dr. Susan Atherley, on behalf of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts community, is pleased to announce that former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, will be visiting the school for a special conversation with the students, faculty and staff. Dr. Albright will be the keynote speaker at this event, organized by the Dreyfoos Women’s Empowerment Club, a newly formed student organization that promotes active and engaged discussion and the advancement of women’s related topics for the betterment of all. The visit and conversation is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2013, from 9 -10 a.m. at the Meyer Auditorium on the Dreyfoos campus. This event is open to Dreyfoos students and members of the Dreyfoos School Community only.

Posted by Deborah Stewart in the Feb.21 press release, further information informs thaf Dr. Albright is currently Chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global financial strategy firm, and Chair of Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets. She was the 64th U.S. Secretary of State. In 2012, President Barak Obama presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. Dr. Albright is a professor in the practice of diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She chairs both the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Pew Global Attitudes Project and serves as president of the Truman Scholarship Foundation.

Dr. Albright’s distinguished career includes serving as Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001. From 1993-1997, she served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and was a member of the President’s Cabinet. From 1989 to 1992, she served as President of the Center for National Policy. Previously, she was a member of President Jimmy Carter’s National Security Council and White House staff and as Chief Legislative Assistant to U.S. Sen. Edmund Muskie.
