With each WWE HOF induction, more wrestling fans and wrestlers are publicly questioning WWE CEO Vince McMahon and his annual snubbing of the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage. Within the last few days former peers of Savage during his WWF (WWE) tenure have spoken out that Savage should be in the WWE HOF. On Thursday January 26th, Hulk Hogan told the wrestling media that Savage should be in the WWE HOF. On Friday January 27th, Paul Roma made the following comments about Savage not being in the WWE HOF according to a January 28th report by WrestlingInc.com:
"Why isn't Savage in there? He was an icon, wasn't he? Why not put him in or some of the other guys? I don't get it. But how do you keep guys out who made you so much money and made the business what it was back in the day, like Savage?"
Roma worked with the Randy Savage in the WWF (WWE) from 1985 to 1991 before Paul departed the company. Roma's comments about Savage echo what the majority of wrestling fans have been saying for years, especially since Randy's death last year.
In May 2011, Savage died from a heart condition while driving his vehicle. He lost control of his car as it crossed over the center median, through oncoming traffic and into a tree. He pronounced dead upon his arrival to the hospital. Since then, wrestling fans have been lobbying for Savage to be honored by the WWE and inducted into the HOF.
Unfortunately, Savage had a controversial departure from the WWE in the mid 90's which led to a serious rift between he and Mc Mahon. There are many rumors and speculations as to what their issue was truly about. The popular theory was that it involved Stephanie McMahon.
Earlier this month, Savage's real life brother Lanny Poffo stated that the WWE has not contacted him at all about Randy being inducted in the HOF. The WWE will induct their newest class into the HOF on Saturday March 31st. For more on Paul Roma's comments to World Wrestling Insanity, click here.
