If Trent Shelton's story were turned into a movie it would tell the story of a professional athlete who walked away from the game to find his true purpose in life. The former wide receiver for Indianapolis, Seattle and Washington left the NFL to find fulfillment. He’s discovered it by spreading inspiration and making a difference in the lives of others across the US as a motivational speaker and author.
In an interview with Examiner Shelton said his story is an example of how one can ultimately find what they were called to do in life.
“When you look at me and look at my story or look at my message, that’s the one thing I try to get across is possibility.“
Since putting his football days behind him Shelton founded the non-profit organization Rehab Time which stands for Renew Every Heart and Body. He has also authored several books including his latest “Know Your Circle” which he says is about making sure you have the right people around you.
“I wanted to change the definition or reaffirm the definition of friendships, relationships and even partnerships. Knowing that your inner circle has the ability to improve or help your reputation or ruin it because so many times we hang around people not knowing that those people aren’t good people. My career in the NFL definitely showed me about true friendships and what true friendship is. It comes down to this, it’s about people being around you for who you are and not what you do. “
Given Shelton’s a former athlete we asked him which sports films were at the top of his viewing list and it was no surprise a couple of them were set in the world of football.
