Former MMA superstar Jordan Nicole "Ninja Princess" Gaza (1-1) announced via Instagram on June 16 that she is pregnant with her first child. Gaza, 21, a Texas native, revealed the news less than a month after tweeting to fans that she's retiring from active MMA competition, following close to half a decade of competing on the amateur and pro circuits.

Gaza, who went 4-3 as an amateur, did not reveal who the father is, but confirmed via Twitter that the baby is due in early-2015. News of Gaza's pregnancy shocked the tight-knit MMA community, as it represented a shocking turn of events for the once fast-rising young wrestler. Just four years ago, Gaza was widely considered to be the future face of women's MMA at both strawweight and flyweight.

She was the complete package of looks, personality and fighting skills. Besides being blessed with a marketable appearance, Gaza had exceptional talent inside the cage. Sponsors were quick to put their logo on Gaza's banner, as they knew she had a bright future in the sport.

Her fan base grew rapidly as she worked her way up the amateur ranks between 2010 and 2012, turning heads and raising eyebrows with submission wins over talented superstars such as Andy Nguyen and Kathryn Davis. Gaza also had elite standup skills, as she proved with a knockout victory over Kylie Rae Malone. After going 4-3 in the amateur ranks, Gaza turned pro in 2012.

Following a close loss to Paige "12 Gauge" VanZant in her professional debut, the rumor was out that Gaza was being looked at by several high-level MMA promotions, including Invicta FC. Since Gaza went toe-to-toe with VanZant for 15 minutes and fell just short on the scorecards, many MMA fans felt she deserved a shot in the big show.

However, VanZant would end up getting the Invicta FC opportunity, while Gaza moved on to XFL. In Gaza's second pro fight, she made quick work of Invicta FC vet Kathina Catron, sending her to an early shower with a second-round rear-naked choke. Following that fight, MMA fans once again took to Twitter to urge Invicta FC to sign her.

Heading into 2014, Gaza's name popped up once again as a possible contestant on Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter. Since Gaza had already held her own with VanZant, there was some talk that she could hold her own with most of the ladies competing on TUF 20. Gaza teased interest in the show, but she wasn't present at the TUF 20 tryouts.

Just a few months later, MMA fans were shocked to see her tweet that she was retiring from the sport. Gaza wrapped up her MMA career with a 1-1 professional record, and 4-3 mark in the amateur ranks. The MMA community wishes her the best of luck in the future.
