Melissa King, Miss Delaware Teen USA is now the ex-Miss Delaware Teen USA. On Tuesday, she resigned her crown after the appearance of an online sex video that claims to feature her.
Pageant spokeswoman Dara Busch confirmed in an e-mail sent Wednesday morning:
I would like to confirm to you that the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King's attorney.
The sex video was first posted Monday. It shows a woman who reportedly looks and sounds exactly like King. King herself, on Monday, said she was aware of it, but denied it was her. She said:
Absolutely not. It is not.
Many in mainstream media say that the woman is definitely King; on the "Bill Press Show" on Wednesday, the newsreader was heard making a similar confirmation.
Still, King does deny the video is of her, but the resignation is awkward, at beat. King added,
There are comments saying this, however, it's not comments that are true.
The video shot was sometime in June of 2012, about four months before King was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA (November). In the video, the woman speaks directly to the camera, saying she turned 18 three months before, in March, which is King's birth month. The woman then continues, describing her favorite sex position -- being on top -- before the actual sex begins.
Portions of the pre-sex commentary are embedded. Viewers can judge for themselves.
The first runner-up for the title is Hailey Lawler. As is typical in these cases, she will be asked to replace King.
