The Carrie Prejean Scandal

Prejean, a Christian model who was a presenter at the 2009 Dove Awards in Nashville, raised some eyebrows when Perez Hilton asked her a loaded opinion question about gay marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant. After answering the question with her opinion, Hilton and pageant organizer Keith Lewis launched an attack against the California beauty, which escalated when Prejean began working for the National Organization for Marriage. Fuel was added to the fire when racy photographs began surfacing of the model followed by an alleged "sex tape."

Carrie Prejean Fired

Just a year before her wedding, Prejean was fired and lost her title, because pageant officials said she failed to show up for scheduled appearances on behalf of the Miss USA Organization. However, in an interview with Access Hollywood, Prejean stated: "None of this would be happening right now if I just said, 'Yeah, gays should get married. You're right, Perez Hilton.'"

Carrie Prejean Book

Prejean released a book in 2009 about her experience.
