Former Miracle players in Rising Stars Game

Former Fort Myers Miracle teammates, Ben Revere and Carlos Gutierrez, were named to the 5th Annual Rising Stars game for the Arizona Fall League.  The players will be part of the west squad when they take on the east in a game to be played November 6th, 2010 at 9pm.  The 2009 game featured 28 players that made an appearance in major league games in 2010 including Steven Strasburg and Buster Posey.

Ben Revere (Miracle 2009) is batting .371 in 17 games with the Peoria Saguaros.  He also has two doubles, one triple and nine steals in the short season. During the regular season Revere batted .305 for the New Britain Rock Cats.  That earned him a September call up to the Minnesota Twins where he appeared in 13 games and hit .179.  In four minor league seasons, Revere has batted .328 with 146 stolen bases.

Carlos Gutierrez (Miracle 2008, 2009) earned his spot with a less than stellar season so far.  His record stands at 1-0 with a 10.29 ERA..  Through seven innings, Gutierrez has allowed 11 hits and runs.  The regular season for Gutierrez was much better as he recorded a 5-8 record while splitting time between New Britain and Rochester with a 4.50 ERA.  Through 3 minor league seasons, he has won 11 games with a 3.93 ERA.

The Arizona Fall League boasts 45 alumni in the 2010 major league all star game and over 1800 former players reaching the major leagues.  It also has been the home to 20 future major league Rookie of the Year awards, 7 MVP’s and 3 Cy Young awards.
