Former middleweight titlist Kelly Pavlik pleads not guilty to DUI

The Vindicator reports that former middleweight titlist Kelly Pavlik pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence in Austintown, Ohio.

Pavlik (40-2, 34 KOs), who surprisingly retired from the sport last January, refused to submit to a sobriety test after getting stopped Monday on the Ohio Turnpike.

Roughly two hours later, “The Ghost” downplayed his latest arrest on Facebook.

“(Expletive) I got got again lol,” wrote Pavlik, 31, whose only losses as a professional came at the hands of legendary boxer Bernard Hopkins and 2010 “Fighter of the Year” Sergio Martinez.

“So we in society say you can’t drink and drive, but you can sell a 24 pack and have beers places, gas stations and everywhere else that sell beer yet if you get pulled over with 2 beers in your system ur (expletive), should we not do the same for a 400 pound woman or man that eats cheese burgers and French fries and orders a diet coke, and drive knowing he has high blood pressure and cholesterol.”

Over the past three years while intoxicated, Pavlik has stiffed a cab driver on a $25 fare, crashed an all-terrain vehicle into a telephone pole, and fought his brother at their family home.

“The Ghost,” who most recently exited the squared circle in July 2012 as a unanimous decision victor over “Power” Will Rosinsky, has twice entered the Betty Ford Clinic and left both times within a week.

Alcoholism is a disease that Pavlik can’t knockout.

The troubled prizefighter is on the floor and badly needs assistance to get off the canvas of life.

Sadly, without clinical help, Kelly Pavlik is “(expletive)” and nobody should “lol.”
