Former McGavock QB Jonathan Quinn Hired as Davidson Academy Head Coach

Jonathan Quinn wanted to get back home and found that in Davidson Academy.

Quinn has been announced as the new football coach for the Bears.

I am extremely excited to return home to Nashville and be a part of a program that is committed to Christ, academics, and their athletic programs,"Quinn said in a school press release.

"After visiting with Dr. Chaney and the Davidson Academy administration, I had no doubt that God was calling for my family and me to take this next step of faith. I am humbled and honored to lead a program that has such a rich tradition of excellence both on and off the field."

Quinn replaces Paul Townsend who led the Bears on an interim basis to a 3-8 record.

The Former Jacksonville Jaguar, MTSU all-conference selection, and McGavock High School Hall of Fame inductee was the head coach for the last five years at
Mid-America Nazarene University near Kansas City.

While there he compiled a 45-13 record with two conference championships, four playoff appearances, and four playoff wins.

Quinn was named Heart of America Conference Coach of the Year and AFCA Regional Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

He served as the Offensive Coordinator
at Mid-America Nazarene in 2007-08 before being promoted in 2009.

Besides playing for the Jaguars, Quinn also played for the Chiefs and the Bears.

He also ended his career playing for Kansas City Brigade in the Arena Football League.

"We are indeed fortunate to engage a person of the caliber and reputation of Coach Quinn."Davidson Academy Headmaster Bill Chaney said.

"I am confident that he will lead our football program back to the championship arena we knew a few years ago."

Davidson Academy won three Division II-A State Titles in 2005, 2006, and 2008.

Currently there are open jobs at Middle Tennessee Christian School, Clay County, Bolivar, Fairley, Clarksville Northwest, Ezell Harding, Red Bank, Bearden, Carter, Perry County, Powell, Monterey, Clarksville, Halls, Unicoi County, Nashville Overton, Marion County, Kirby, Chattanooga Central, Jackson Christian, Knoxville Central and Richland as schools currently looking for a head coach.
