He was Louisiana's Governor for four years and served eight years in prison and he is now going to be a star on his own A&E reality TV show with his wife,Trina and family.
Edwin Edwards, 85 was one of the most popular Governer's of Louisiana and while serving his time for crimes committed while in office, a bribery and extortion scheme to rig riverboat casino licenses during his fourth term in the early 1990s, he met the love of his life.
Tina Grimes Scott, now Trina Scott Edwards started writing the former Governer while he was in prison and started visiting him regularly when they fell in love.
When he was released in 2011 he married Trina in July of that year.
They, along with Trina's two teenage sons from a previous relationship, Logan and Trevor, now live together and are filming the TV series.
The show will follow Trina as she begins her life with Edwin, her two sons, and his family, including two of his daughters who are older then she is.
Trina is 34.
Edwin's daughters Anna, 62, and Victoria, 60, who was described by A&E as, "a hardened 60-year-old ex-showgirl" play a big part in the show.
The official description of the show by A&E is;
“The series follows Trina as she attempts to fit into the former governor’s upscale world and busy social life while trying to get along with daughters twice her age and corral her teenage sons. Between school projects, running for president of the Homeowner’s Association, fending off skeptics who think she’s a gold digger, and thoughts of adding a baby of their own to the mix, the Edwards clan truly represent a new take on the modern family.”
Edwin has been known as one of the most colorful, fun, and animated political leaders ever.
Trina, from what I have come to know of her, is kind, caring, beautiful inside and out and is easy going, funny, and the perfect match for Edwards.
The show, called "The Governor's Wife" premieres Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. CST on A&E and is set to be a reality show that is fun, positive, and a refreshing change from your average reality TV chaos and drama.
Make sure you tune in and watch as Edwin enters society again and begins an amazing, wonderful new chapter of his life, with Trina and her boys.
Edwin is one lucky man.
