Former lawmaker announces run for Superior Court Judge

Moments ago liberal lawmaker, Brendan Williams, posted the following on his Facebook page:

Today I leave partisan politics -- with its inertia, political permanency, and cash-before-principles -- to the next generation of Democrats, people like Denny Heck. There's no room there for my progressive values. And I announce today for Thurston County Superior Court.

Williams, who served three terms in the State House representing the 22nd LD before leaving the legislature to become a Deputy Insurance Commissioner, says he will be seeking position #4, currently held by retiring Judge Thomas McPhee. In the press release announcing his run, he says,

“I’m running for Thurston County Superior Court because I feel a duty to serve a community I love. I feel passionately about the honor and integrity of our judicial system where each case is judged on its merits and applicable law, not ideology, courthouse connections, or the power of those involved.  It is important that the doors of our courts are open and accessible to all. We elect judges to keep them close to the people and communities they serve. A judge must adhere to the law, but remain accountable to the people.”
