Before the 2013-14 NBA season got underway, two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom was linked to the Los Angeles Lakers and a potentially comeback. Odom has always had a soft spot for the Lakers, but the reunion never came to fruition and now it appears he'll be taking his talents overseas according to Marc Stein of ESPN on Feb. 17:
Sources with knowledge of Odom's thinking told ESPN.com that the 34-year-old has reached an agreement in principle to sign a deal with Laboral Kutxa in Spain's top league.
It has been a rough the last few years to say the least for Odom. The former Sixth Man of the Year started to go downhill after being traded by the Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks following the vetoed Chris Paul deal that would've sent Odom to New Orleans.
After an extremely disappointing stint with the Mavs, Odom's career was in jeopardy until ultimately bouncing back with the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, Odom's resurgence with the Clippers was short-lived leaving the veteran forward unemployed and on the verge of a divorce with reality star Khloe Kardashian.
Odom was battling drug addiction over the past few months and his relationship with Kardashian fell apart as a result. The veteran forward Odom was thought to be on the verge re-signing with the Clippers or possibly nearing a return to the Lakers, but that never happened leading many to believe his NBA career had come to an end.
Although it remains to be seen if Odom will ever sign with another NBA team, the two-time champion has an opportunity to prove his worth on the basketball floor once again in Spain. Another shot on the NBA level may be on the horizon, but as of right now he'll have to settle for playing overseas.
