Horse racing sportscaster and former jockey Donna Barton Brothers has written a new sports book, titled “Inside Track” An Insider’s Guide to Horse Racing.” The 104-page paperback, published by Eclipse Press, was released August 1, 2011.
“Inside Track” focuses on how-to’s for horse racing bets, as well as horse racing facts, famous jockeys, favorite horses, racetrack apparel options, racetracks across the U.S. and more.
The author, married to retired horse racing trainer Frank Brothers, still ranks second (to Julie Krone) for all-time career earnings among female Thoroughbred horse racing jockeys. Daughter of jockey Patti Barton, she had more than 1,100 wins to her credit in her 12-year career, when she retired in from horse racing in 1998.
Her brother and sister were also jockeys.
Since 1998, Brothers has participated as an on-air television sports commentator for NBC, the TVG Network and other outlets. In this capacity, she has covered Triple Crown races, the Breeders’ Cup, the World Equestrian Games, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Professional Bull Riders competitions and other horse-related events.
On TV, horse racing fans are most likely to see Brothers riding up alongside winning jockeys for post-race on-camera interviews.
“Inside Track,” Brothers’ first book, retails for $16.95.
