Former WBC heavyweight titlist Vitali Klitschko was sprayed in the face by a fire extinguisher during Sunday’s protests in Kiev, Ukraine.

The 42-year-old Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs), who in October announced his candidacy for the 2015 Ukrainian election, and other opposition leaders are seeking to force the resignations of President Viktor Yanukovych and his cabinet members.

Klitschko has also demanded the immediate release of all detained demonstrators and political prisoners.

A natural commander who has the strong backing of his countrymen, Klitschko led the UDAR (Punch) party to a surprising third place finish in the autumn of 2012.

Yanukovych and his flunkies will ultimately get floored and the 6-foot-7, 247-pound Klitschko has a tremendous opportunity to become the face of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the person responsible for using a weapon to assault Vitali Klitschko should immediately bolt from Eastern Europe.
