Former Golden Flash Shawn Bayes drafted by Hartford Colonels of the United Football League

Former Kent State wide receiver Shawn Bayes was selected in the third round of the 2010 United Football league draft.

Bayes, who totaled 74 receptions for 1,133 yards and eight touchdowns in four years for Golden Flashes, was picked with the second selection in the third round (12th overall) by the Hartford Colonels.

Bayes, who stands 5’-10” and hails from Memphis, Tennessee, was on the active roster for three preseason games (appearing in two) for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL) in August, 2009.

The 2010 UFL Draft consisted of 12 rounds in which each of the five UFL teams made one selection for a total of 60 players who were drafted by the league that is scheduled to begin its second season of competition with an eight game schedule this fall.
