After months of speculation, and silence from the band, it has finally been confirmed that John Frusciante (http://www.myspace.com/johnfrusciantemusic) has once again left the Red Hot Chili Peppers (www.redhotchilipeppers.com) and good friend Josh Klinghoffer (http://www.myspace.com/joshklinghofferunofficial) (http://www.myspace.com/dothackerband) will replace him.
Frusciante was quoted as saying he didn't "want to make music for money anymore."
So far Josh has been a perfect fit, and already has a rapport with the band, having been on tour with them in 2007 on rhythm guitar, vocals and keyboards.
Flea and Anthony Kiedis are mum on the subject; Chad Smith will only say that "John will always be in the Peppers." (http://www.stadium-arcadium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26996)
Fans of the band are excited but cautious. The guitar sound they learned to love through John’s 5 albums with the band (Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, By The Way and the massive Stadium Arcadium [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hot_Chili_Peppers_discography#Studio_albums]) will certainly be different. However, more importantly, multi-instrumentalist Klinghoffer will add a new dimension to the band and share some of the songwriting (including words) which was, until now, not the case. Kiedis, knowing John’s penchant for poetic lyrics, once suggested that they share the responsibility, but John declined, feeling that it was Anthony’s thing and it should stay that way.
In addition, Flea has completed music theory studies at the Conservatory of Music that he opened up(http://www.silverlakeconservatory.com/) for L.A. kids to have a productive way to channel their energies. He has learned to play the piano and has begun to write songs on it, which are intended to be included on the album.
All these fresh new ideas flowing into the air suggests that 2011 will be quite an exhilarating time for the fans…AND the band.
