'General Hospital' fans were a bit shocked when young Rafe got hooked on drugs. We were further shocked when the character was recently killed off.
And the mystery continues – it seems Rafe was in some way involved with Victor Cassadine. Robin (Kim McCullough) recently confirmed that it was Rafe who ran Patrick’s car off the road. That accident was responsible for the death of little Gabriel. More to come on that topic.
As for actor Jimmy Deshler (ex Rafe) – he had no idea that his Port Charles days were numbered.
According to Deshler (via Soaps in Depth), he was given the news of Rafe’s demise just prior to filming the story.
‘I guess it was just confidential and they didn't want any of the story getting out so I found out the Monday of the week it was happening. I guess it was a surprise to all of us,’ Deshler told Soaps in Depth.
Deshler went out like a champ and a professional.
‘It's good to have something on your resume like GH and I did a year and a half of it. I learned a lot from it. I've been on a set as a guest star, but I've never been a regular part of a show. It was a very good experience,’ he said.
So what’s next for the talented young actor?
In addition to college, Deshler has some specific plans.
‘I've done guest stars and little roles in films. I've kind of set it as my goal to get a feature film and have that be my next project that I work on,’ he shared with SID.
In other news, former cast member Nathin Butler (ex Ewen) and his wife are the proud parents of son Jetson Kerry Butler.
Also according to Soaps in Depth, ‘General Hospital’ will soon move back to its former 3pm EST (2pm PST) slot in select markets. More on just what areas will be impacted when the official word comes down.
‘General Hospital’ airs at 2pm on Detroit’s local ABC affiliate WXYZ Channel 7.
