Former Devil Petr Sykora invited to training camp

Former New Jersey Devils forward Petr Sykora has been invited to the upcoming fall training camp according to general manager Lou Lamoriello. Sykora was once a member of the Devils "A Line" with Jason Arnott and Patrik Elias. Arnott now plays in St. Louis after a short second stint with the Devils last season, and Elias has two years left on his contract with the team.

Sykora, 34, played in the Czech Republic and Russia last season and last played in the NHL for the Minnesota Wild in 2009-10, but was placed on waivers after suffering a concussion that caused him to miss two months of the season.

Sykora has 145 goals and 205 assists for 350 points with the Devils in the 445 games he played for the team between 1995 and 2002. Sykora has also appeared in 63 playoff games for the Devils, putting up 22 goals and 24 assists for 46 points.

Sykora has also played for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Minnesota Wild. He is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion and has appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals five times.
