According to former Democratic Party Communications Director Brad Woodhouse, the possibility that Republicans will block CNN and NBC from hosting debates is an extension of the alleged GOP "war on women," Twitchy reported Friday.
"What isn’t part of the 'Republican War on Women'?" Twitchy asked.
One person reminded Woodhouse of a very real war on women being waged by Democrats like Mayor Bob Filner and others.
"War on women? Filner, Weiner, Bubba, NUMEROUS libs sending death threat to Palin, Bachmann & other women? LOL @ crazy Brad," tweeted "Tom P."
"Hey moron, maybe they don't want a clearly biased network that airs propaganda in favor of a candidate moderating unfairly," another person tweeted.
On Friday, Republicans voted to not partner with CNN or NBC on debates if they broadcast any of the planned projects promoting Hillary Clinton.
"We're done putting up with this nonsense," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. "CNN and NBC will just have to watch on their competitors' network...The media overplayed their hand this time."
CNN and NBC responded, saying the projects are still in the very early stages and calling the RNC's response premature and based on little more than speculation, The Wrap said.
"Speculation about the final program is just that," CNN told The Wrap. "We encouraged all interested parties to wait until the program premieres before judgments are made about it."
"Unfortunately, the RNC was not willing to do that," the network added.
But given the history of both networks in covering political candidates, the RNC's actions make perfect sense.
In 2012, for example, coverage of the RNC convention was compared to something one would see in the Soviet-era Pravda, a network that shilled for the Communist Party.
Many outlets, for example, completely ignored Ann Romney's speech to the RNC Convention.
During the entire campaign, MSNBC bent over backward to declare every word uttered by a Republican "racist."
Last September, a Gallup poll found that distrust of the so-called "mainstream media" was at an all-time high.
The situation became so bad that former Democratic pollster Pat Caddell called the mainstream media "the enemy of the American people."
"The press’s job is to stand in the ramparts and protect the liberty and freedom of all of us from a government and from organized governmental power," he said.
"When they desert those ramparts and decide that they will now become active participants, that their job is not simply to tell you who you may vote for, and who you may not, but, worse—and this is the danger of the last two weeks—what truth that you may know, as an American, and what truth you are not allowed to know, they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people," he added.
Republicans argue the planned projects would give Clinton -- a potential 2016 presidential candidate -- unfair publicity.
