Former CSU Football coach Steve Fairchild hired as Virginia OC

Steve Fairchild has found new work in college football.

Fairchild, a Colorado State University graduate, has been hired to be the University of Virginia's new offensive coordinator according to the AP. He was hired following Bill Lazor leaving the school to work with Chip Kelly of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

Last year, Fairchild was in San Diego as an offensive assistant with the NFL's Chargers.

And Ram fans likely remember him best as the head coach following Sonny Lubick, the one that helped lead the team into a downward spiral. In his first season as Colorado State's head coach, the Rams went 7-6, ending the year with a New Mexico Bowl win.

Unfortunately, that was the only time the school would see the postseason with Fairchild in charge; they notably went 3-9 the next three straight years and he was fired when Jack Graham made a power play for the AD position in December of 2011.

At the end of his four seasons, Fairchild's record was a pitiful 16-33 as the Rams head man, and only now, a full year since his firing, has the team began to see improvement.
